The story behind the 'creation' of the Shivoham Shiva Temple is undoubtedly inspiring and intriguing. It is an attestation of the power of faith and the will of God.
It all started when RVM, the founder of the temple, had a vision to build a temple of Lord Shiva that would propagate and strengthen faith, hope and belief. Initially, RVM was taken aback. He had no plans, nor the funds or land to execute such a vision. However, he believed that this dream was actually a message from God. He started working towards realizing it, and in no time, things began to fall in place. He found an appropriate piece of land and a team that would translate his dream to reality. The Shivoham Shiva Temple was finally consecrated on February 26th, 1995, on the auspicious day of Maha Shivratri by Sri Shankaracharya of Sringeri.
The 65-feet-tall statue of Lord Shiva was dedicated to the public with the vision of making believers realize God. God doesn’t lives only in the temples but also in the temple of your heart. The temple draws many visitors every day and encourages and promotes faith and spirituality. With the staunch belief that ‘Service to the poor is prayer to God’, the temple is also actively involved in humanitarian work. All the proceeds from the sale of temple tickets or temple products are directed towards serving the poor and destitute sheltered at the RVM Foundation Humanitarian Hospital and Transit Home.
